i used it a couple of years ago and had no problem with it. i gave it a try after i flopped at dosing with individual elements. i had everything out of whack because i didn't understand that when you dosed one thing it would effect another. saw the sea lab 28 and it sounded too good. from research on the net i seen a lot of people knock it, but it's inexpensive and it worked great for me. now a days i do a 5 gallon water change every week and only have a hand full of corals, so the changes take care of things right now. i say give it a shot, i would use it again if the time comes.

What I have found is that once the chemistry got balanced my mag "holds" now. I was adding 60 ml. every other day before, now my mag hasn't moved in weeks. The alk is another story, I add 2 teaspoons every other day to maintain alk at 10 dkh. but I have always had a tank that needed help with the alk.

That's just advertising. I would use them when I travelled but it is definitely NOT the way I would replenish elements. The whole "it only dissolves as fast as elements need replacing" claim is hogwash scientifically. They also used to advertise that only the particular element that need to be replenished was dissolved. That is also scientifically impossible. The dissolution of these is primarily related to the amount of flow you put them in. You can overdose but your tank will get rid of the excess via abiotic precipitation which will force you to soak all your pumps (and heater) in vinegar

It sounded too good to be true to me, that was the impression I had of the chemistry but I wasn't sure if maybe they had found some fancy new technology to live up to the marketing claims. :)

You will have to prove scientifically what you are saying. I know from using them that they do disolve at different rates. I believe they tell you not to put them in a high flow area. The product works. I am not sure why you are knocking it, and let me guess, you never used it....right.
