I have been using Tetra AquaSafe Plus dechlorinator, so I put the correct amount in a container and filled it with water and as it was filling it foamed like crazy, then I let it sit for fifteen minutes to settle and came back and added more water to the same batch and it still foamed up bad. I also then put a sipping straw in it and blew air into it for twenty seconds and it still foamed. Then I also have some API dechlorinator and did the same test and did not get any foam, just a few bubbles as filling. I will do some water changes over the next few days to see if this is really the problem. Forgot to add because I just got my first skimmer, its a Eshopps PSK100H and it is foaming so bad I cant put the collection cup cover on as it will foam out all over the floor.

Are you using it to treat tap water? If so you should consider an ro/di unit, then you wont need to add anything other than salt.

But to answer your question...i have used it, but only when i had a fresh water tank. Never used it in salt water. the reason its foaming your skimmer so much is probably because its also a stress coat for fish which is making the skimmer go nuts.

It was the Tetra AuquaSafe Plus!! I did a water change with the API Super Concentrate and the skimmer is working very nice now and am getting a lot of gunk just getting ready to fall into the collection cup. As someone here said, it must be the STRESS aditive that was in the TETRA brand. I will wait a week and do another water change. Thanks everyone for your help and imput!!!

Glad you figured it out! I had a hunch that was what the problem was ;)

I am just setting up a Fluval Edge and getting massive foam - I too am using Tetra AquaSafe for the water and read on another forum that this could be the cause. Looks like I need to try something else - thanks for the post!
