If you are good at plumbing you could save a lot of money by just buying a 10 gallon tank and alter it how ever you want. It is easy and there are several post in the DIY forum to help you.

If its just a sump, and not a fuge, it wouldn't require any modification. Just buy the overflow kit for the tank, and plumb everything in.

No, I know, I am just wondering exactly what the OP is trying for, whther he means just sump, or a sump/fuge? Just confused because he only said sump, but said he can plumb. There is really nothing more to do then just plumb with just a sump. Unless he wants it drilled? Heck any glass shop can do that.

If you're talking about making a siphon overflow box (like they have out here Lifereef Filter Systems) I would be very very careful, they are very tricky/precise things and can have disasterous results if the siphon breaks or doesn't come back after a power outage, or if the overflow siphon gets little bubbles in it gradually and breaks the siphon eventually, etc.

If you're talking about making a sump with refugium that's a whole other story, they are pretty basic and there's tons of information out there.
