Aquarists often forget, but anemones are amongst the hardest inverts to keep. Its misleading because many are relatively cheap and easily purchased.

Unless your really experienced, i wouldnt get one, they can cause more problems then they are worth. Dont forget they move and they sting and they kill. A coral will almost certainly lose a battle with an anemone.

I've looked at your tank stats, and you probably could maintain a bubble providing your nitrates are 0.

I have managed to keep several anemones over the years, BTA’s are not too bad as far as difficulty goes (I feed them a very small amount of chopped shrimp once a week).

In general I would not recommend attempting to keep anemones, they usually do not do well in captivity unless you have a very specific setup to support them… and then it’s still hit and miss.

my parameters are pretty steady in terms of nitrate.

I'm thinking i should avoid them... but on the other hand you only live once. It's not like if i fail i will go out and buy another 5.

That's kind of a crappy way to approach the subject. I mean we're talking about a live animal here. If you're not sure you can keep it alive then you should probably avoid it. I'm not saying you shouldn't try it. And lord knows I've killed my share of fish and inverts since I started due to lack of ability. All I'm sayin is "you only live once" is a lame way to justify the purchase.

HA! I havent bought one and am not trying to "justify" it....::) there is no difference to whether or not you kill due to inability or idiocy... a death is a death. i just wanted to know if anyone has had sucess with them

not gonna lie i was contemplating it. my tank has been set up for a year so i thought i could think about it.

I have always wanted one. But after looking at the risks involved with them killing things or dying and nuking the whole tank. I just decided not to get one. They are cool, but know the risks to your other tank inhabitants before you make a decision. Best of luck.

Water was perfect, And it was completely healthy. I tried an lta, condy, and a bta. And my tank was 10 months old.

I agree, I always look at the BTA's when I go to my LFS and even though I want, want, want one badly I will always pass. I think it will save me some headaches down the line.
