I would not even try...too risky...the rock is too porus....and god knows if you will get it all out...and it only takes a little copper to jack up your reef. Not worth the risk IMO.

Not worth it for a reef IMO. FOWLR OK though.

well thats a dissapointment i was really interested if possible since i willl be upgrading to a 150 soon and $60 is a drop in the bucket for rock :/ if popular consensus is that its not very possible then maybe id avoid it.....i was 100% on using the rock, i was going to try and rid it of copper, test, and then maybe tes with a couple cheap snails as well to see and if i was unable to rid the copper id put it back up for sale

I think I said something that sparked a nerve in everyone and at the same time didn't give you my full opinion. Mr. Bill is totally right. If I didn't have a test kit then I would have sacrificed a snail. Would it have been wrong, yes. I didn't know also that you wanted to go with a reef and then the rest of the posts are correct, I wouldn't have used it unless it was going to be a FOWLR. I apologize to you and everyone else for not thinking things out thoroughly.

alright i emailed wet web media last night with the issue, and this is the response

"I was surfing through craigslist and found 250+ lbs of LR for $60....so of
course i was like thats got to be either a typo or someone is very
desperate for space but anyway I clicked into the post and it said the LR
is saturated in copper so i posted up on one of my forums asking if there
is any way to possibly remove all copper from the rock and a few people
came forward and said you could recure the rock at a low PH while running
    co2. Is this true?
<Can be done... I'd use an inorganic acid... like HCl... w/ good air
movement if done in the house>
Is there any way to properly get rid of all copper from
    all LR???
<Not "all", but mostly all can be melted off thus; the rock used profitably
    as "base">
...if so i think this will more than likely be a very good
investment although time consuming. Looking forward to your response,
Than you very much in advance.
<Please read here: FAQs about "Base" Rock 1
    and here: CuRemovalFAQ2

everyone still think scrap the rock or maybe give this a shot?
