Anyone currently using Neptunes Apex to control their Vortechs?

Looking to upgrade in the next couple of months.... I wanna hear some thoughts.

Send powerman (i think that is his name) a pm. He ran two vortechs with his apex.

Out of curiosity, what aspects of the vortechs were you looking to control with the Apex?

I know the pumps come with their own drivers that control flow patterns that make some nice random flow or full blown waves while also controlling output %. Were you looking to just turn them on/off during feedings/waterchanges and such?

I would like to know exactly what functions are available for control.

Speed, Modes, Temporary Feed mode, Night mode.

I know they make a controller for them... but can't find any information on exactly what the controller does.

He ran one on his AC jr before he tore down his tank.

Im doing some reading on the vortechs... I do know that they have their own drivers which makes me wonder how they function on the APEX

Wanna see how the apex controls them. If the apex can control them the sameway the drivers do. I have read very little on the wxm apex has for vortechs. But still very much in the dark.

Apex wth its feed modes.... also with battery back up for the pumps while linked to the APEX... So many variables I can come up with.

If im gonna invest into some superior water flow... I wanna know what Im getting into. I have everything controlled by my apex. I do not want some sub driver controlling anything. I want the APEX to be doing this.

If anyone has any links or info that would be awesome.

The WXM add on module allow you to program changes of pump speed through the day. Something that made me want to get the apex. I will pick one up next yr.

No, I ran my MP40s on my Apex with the WXM. All I can say is it's the sh#$. The new Vortech driver gives some more features, but you don't even need the new drivers if you get the WXM.

What you do is build "pump profiles" in Apex. You say what speed, what is master or slave, sync or anti-sync.... then you simply program times for what ever profile you want.

Most folks that have Vortechs keep them on wave crest. Well I had probably 10 different profiles running daily. At dusk I would put one side in constant at say 60% and the other side at 10% to simulate a tidal flow... I did that 2 times a day reversing flow each time. Ran wave crest in anti sync during the day but ramped up and down the intensity over the day. At night before lights out I ran wave crest synced at 100% for 20 minutes to stir things up. Then I ramped down intensities and put everything to sleep with "night mode of lagoon at 30%. The possibilities are simply endless.

Also... truly one touch feed mode and maintenance times. No more stupid feed mode of the Vortechs or stupid might mode of half intensity.

You will never regret getting the WXM. The Vortech drivers still drive the modes like wave crest and lagoon or what ever, but Apex tells it when to jump and how high. And of course Apex can drive the pulsed wave modes if you want to create waves. You just get your wave the way you want it, then build a profile set at those times.
