I'm looking into purchasing a Neptune systems controller just because of the iPhone app capabilities...

can someone tell me if the APEX is fully functional with the iPhone app? I have read conflicting reports...

I'm hoping that someone using the APEX with the iPhone app can chime in here...

I'm also considering an Aquacontroller if the APEX doesn't work with the iPhone... but I'm taking suggestions on other controllers as well.

    Thanks!

your talking about the aquanotes app right?
in the description it says that you can control everything normally controlled by your aquacontroller III, III pro, or apex from your phone (lights, heaters, cooler, pumps, ozone, co2, edit the timers and program statements, sync the clock, initiate feed mode, and more). you can also view the graphs and stuff. I also believe it has alarms... i dont know if it texts you or if it pushes it through the app, however its helpful either way.

I did not realize any controller had remote control functionality already, that's pretty cool. I've been waiting for my reef keeper to get this functionality (they say april we will see), and that's just for web page control so a phone app is even 1 step farther.

There is an aquanotes app for the iPhone that works with the Neptune Controllers, however, I am not sure if the functionality is FULLY there with the APEX controller and this app.

I did a search through the 3Reef forums and found some posts that said the Aquanotes app does not have all of the functionality with the APEX that it does with the Aquacontroller.

I have read the descriptions on the Neptune systems site and other sites, so I'm looking for someone to chime in who has actually used the app and APEX together to verify that it works fully or not...

It's a big part of the decision process I'm going through to find a suitable controller... I really like the feature of being able to control it via iPhone, but if it doesn't work fully, then I may end up either downgrading to a simpler, cheaper controller, or upgrading to one that does... until I know if the APEX works fully with the app, I won't be sure.

Right now, I don't have a controller and I'm in the market for one and weighing out all my options.

FWIW, the app that's available for the RKE does work for the iPhone, but it doesn't allow you to set or control anything, it is only monitoring the RSS feed.

EDIT: NM, I found the link, was searching for the wrong thing... see how cool this app is:

ahh! I do know there most recent version (2.2) does support the maps for apex, given that your apex has the correct software. Maybe someone who has actual experience with the app can help more?

OK, I just got it straight from Neptune Systems, the app works for the APEX except you cannot configure the controller from the iphone app. You CAN manually switch pumps, lights, heaters, etc off/on, toggle manual/ auto modes, and monitor all of the probe and graph readings.

Since the APEX is configured using a web browser, the iphone app is not really needed for this anyway...

I'm pretty much sold on the APEX controller. Time to sell more stuff on ebay (anyone looking for studio microphones?? lol) and get one...
