First off, I'd like to wish every a Happy New Year, hopefully the hangovers aren't too bad this year lol....I'm curious if anyone experience the same thing as me after waking up this morning. My apex froze up completely at midnight and outlets locked up as they were. so this morning/afternoon when I woke up the lights were still off in my tank. Long story short I had to power it down and back up and it's fine now. Anyone else experience this by any chance. Had my apex for 5 months already with 0 issues. this was the first.

I've had to hard reboot mine a couple times over the 5ish years I've owned it. The web server has frozen up twice. Never really been a serious issue.

You might have a defective unit. I would contact Apex.

I contacted neptune since the first time it happened. First off I'd like to say that their customer support is amazingly fast. After 2 days of them troubleshooting my issues. It was actually the port number that I used to remotely log into my unit. Apparently the standard port number of 80 will cause other internet requests using that port to freeze it. I changed it to a random number and it's recommended to update the firmware to 4.31 which I haven't done yet. Apparently they took care of that issue with that update. Hopefully my headache can help someone else with theirs if it happens with something similar.

Unofficial Apex set up guide is "official" from several months and you can download it directly from Neptune Systems website :)

I downloaded that guide. it's a great guide and I used it to set up features on it. Honestly I never read through the network setup lol. it's a really long guide. btw my controller still works great after changing my port number....A+ on the support staff from Neptune.
