My Apex arrived today, but I didn't realise I had to calibrated the PH probe. My question is, is there any difference between the premixed solution, say Pinpont to the powders you mix yourself?

Also how often do you need to calibrate the probe, just so I know how much to get in advance

Yes, there is a difference. Your powdered mix will not get you exactly 7.0 or 10.0. This means your calibration will be off. You need to buy the calibration packets or containers.

I calibrated mine every 3 months.

I bought 6 of the 7.0 and 6 of the 10.0 one use packets. I wound up using 2 of each when calibrating due to either user or apex error while calibrating.
