I'm adding a water on floor sensor to my apex, for those who are not sure what sensor to get these are the 2 i have ordered and am told will work with the break out box. both sensors will be set up to turn off all pumps at detection of water.

i have dragged my feet on this add because i wasn't sure what parts to get. recently had a flood so it got me motivated to get this done.
from the info i have gathered its a simple hook up, that could be hooked up together or as 2 separate controlled switched. mine will be separate so when it texts me i know where the problem is. the hook up for multiples is done by one wire going to the common line and the other wire of the sensor going to L1, L2 and so on .. the programing names will be SWITCH1 , SWITCH2 and so on.

i received help with this on reef central, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=20084651#post20084651 person was extremely helpful and cleared every thing up for me. beside the unofficial apex guide which was also a great help.

i will be setting this up this week and update this thread.

Thank you! :) but with fish tanks thats un-likely... lol

its pretty cool it turns the pumps of as soon as the water touches the sensor. its that fast.

I have a couple flood sensors that we used for air conditioning units, they're 24v and have double pole microswitches for shuting things off or on (in my case at work, they were used in conjunction with secondary drain pans and condensate pumps,so i'm sure they could be wired to kill my pumps.Worst part is they have an audible screech for an alert, way worse than a smoke detector.
    LOL

hope its of some help to you, i used the programming that they talk about in the apex unofficial guide. have mine set to stay off when it detects water and I'm using the feed D to turn it back on.

thanks :) its a well needed add. i have had 2 floods. one caused by an anemone the other caused by me setting my sock up wrong ... it was one of those things i thought maybe i shouldn't be doing it this way but did anyway. :(
