I'm reading up on various inverts and have discovered that peppermint shrimp just love munching on problem aptasia. Is this a better option than injecting the aptasia? (is the shrimp going to eat the whole thing so that it doesn't spread?)

sometimes it is hard to get shrimp to eat aptisa. My peperment don't even like to come out. I know he is in there cause he hides in the same spot but he defintly don't like to move much. Guess I will have to take away his big screen lol. But seriously some people have luck and some don't.

I've heard a lot of people say that they have had success with them eating aptasia, but I never saw mine do it. Worth a try though, as even if they don't eat the aptasia, they're awesome little shrimp.

I had three peppermint's and none of them touched aiptasia. They are also highly nocturnal, shy, and will spend most of the time hiding. Completely un-interactive creatures IMO. I took them back, and now just stick with the joe's juice

How were you able to get them out of the tank without tearing apart the rock to take them back to the LFS?

I never had any luck with peppermints, but I got a copper banded butterfly and he cleaned house with a week or two.

I have two peppermint shrimp. The cleaned up the aiptasia but they are nocturnal so you don't get to see them very much.

Recently one of mine started coming out more during the day right about the time I feed the fish. It is cool to see him, don't get to very often. I half forgot I had them in there.

I have two P-Shrimp in my 90g and they decimated the aiptasia population. Left only one for me to deal with. I injected it and that was that. However, I have only seen on of these guys in the last two months. They are nocturnal, so you just put them in there and forget about them.

I read somewhere once that peppermint shrimp for our hobby mostly come from either the Pacific or Caribbean, and that the Caribbean are the only ones that will eat the aiptasia. Don't know how true that really is, just thought I'd share.
