Looking for advice - I started a fuge about a month ago. put in several pounds of live sand and some live rock rubble from local reef supply shop, then chaeto and halimedia.

just today i saw this guy on a 1 inch chunk of rock rubble.

    questions -
    1. is this aptasia? - i've got no prior experience, but this looks like pictures on the net to me.
    2. this is in the fuge - i've read that aptasia is a big problem in tanks. in the fuge, is this still true? will it spread thru the return to sump and back to DT? will it overtake fuge?

    thanks for any tips

I've read that people that have tried this have no success with it. Get a couple of shrimps like Luna said, or get something like "Aptasia X" or "Joe's Juice" to get rid of it.

The only reason why this method doesnt work is b/c, if you dont some how cover its "Face" or front, it ex-spells its babies and in no time have a few new generations. Go to www.marinedepot.com and look up RedSea's Aiptasia-X and look at the video they have there. If its not there, go to RedSea's home page. Luna

im not positive but i think a while back there was a thread with tangster involved, and i think he said he has kept aptasia in his fuge,(good filter feeders i guess)
and i think he said he never noticed them move to the display
(i am not positive it was tangster but i think it was , so dont kill me if its not)
i have bunch in my fuge and i just leave them there, ive yet to see any in my display. i do have a peppy in the display too.

Yes it is Aptasia but is it's in your Fuge I'd Keep it. Aptasia is a great nutrient exporter
so I would keep it in the Fuge

Luna I was refering to the lemon juice here . With the kalk I have never seen them pop back up.
as far as keeping them because they are in the sump I realy have to take the word of the more experienced guys here.
