From my experience even with dipping for 25-30 minutes in a high-content mix of CoralRx they still seem to survive without problem.

I don't think coralrx is supposed to kill aiptasia. I could be wrong on that though. I'd worry about anything that can kill aiptasia consistently would do damage to the tissue of my corals.

    CoralRX will not kill them

made a super concentrated mix - 16 drops into 500 mils of water and left 1 small rock with 3 Aptasia on it ( no higher life forms) and left it in there half an hour
placed the rock in one of my small tanks and following day they where back to full extension

one thing I have found is that if you use Aptasia X or Kalk paste, it is best to turn all flow off in aquarium whilst treating
in a high flow set up like I have for mostly SPS, the treatment has a tendency to drift away before it has time to be effective
turning the flow off for 15 minutes during treatment has been effective for me, with both Aptasia X and kalkwasser paste mixtures

See my post here before and after Aiptasia X, I got actual pics to show how it works, hahaha! Anyways! it seems safe and so far seems to work quite well, its applied directly on the Aiptasia with a large syringe and its thickens and sticks to its mouth instantly on contact so it can't poop out babies, its a mix of Calcium and Magnesium salts and appears to burn them and yes all the water movement equipment needs to be off, it says 15 minutes, but I have gave an hour.

I am going to have to disagree with you here on the peppermint shrimp. I have never heard of the aptasia's releasing spores because an aptasia is eating it. ;D

Also, boiling water works great lol. I use it all the time, well I used to when I didn't have a peppermint shrimp. It will kill them. Just boil some water in a pot on the stove and then use a turkey baster and squirt the aptasia with some boiling water. It will kill a little of the bacteria in the rock, but not enough to hurt anything.

I'm not sure how to undo this typo. And I'll clarify my preceding point: When my peppermint shrimp eradicated the apitasia their was no gamete/offspring problem. Before then' when I was using apitasia x I had two problems - juvinilie apitasia springing up everywhere and never finding the last adult. Your boiling water procedure sounds great for knock-down.

I suspect peppermints to rip the apitasia in high non gamete generating style.

Above post (Wright) suggested to carefully and temporarily shut
off flow when applying apitasia x. I think this step is a must try. In the future , I will take this measure before doing anything with apitasia, including using the mojano wand. Seems like less flow will create better exposure and dwell time. I will try this if they ever return (knock on wood.)
