So it seems like every lfs I have gone too, I see aptasia in every tank! The tanks do not have them taking over but there are a few in the tanks on random pieces of rubble or sometimes on an actual coral itself. I want to add coral but I do not want to introduce aptasia into my system. Do you guys have a problem with pest on corals when ordering from online vendors? Im assuming even If I see a piece with nothing on it it is probably not safe to put it into my tank since eventually one may grow?

..It's true, I think I have seen them in most all LFS I have been to... I went 4 years before I finally brought some in..Just be diligent, look at them closely, QT is always recommended IME....but, alas, sometimes they sneak on past...then you have to deal with them...eradication of aptasia (products) is a million dollar business.
Just take care...and you may be one of the few fortunate ones who never gets any. ; )

I know they sell the coral dips to help prevent the intoduction of bad hitchhikers. How well do these work? Are the only effective agaisnt different inverts or do they kill aptasia and other pest anemones as well?

I hear real good things about Coral RX... Dunno if it kills aptasia though. But there are lots of products out there to kill them... I actuall use crazy glue. Not the gel kind. I smother the aptasia in liquid crazy glue and it gets stuck in the glue so it can't move or miltiply! It ends up dying.

Krazy glue? I might have to try this. Does it work for the bigger ones as well?
