I figured it was the best way to get the correct answers. I will update you once I get the skimmer and figure out the best way to do it. Thanks for your help Matt.

    Update for you all.....

I received the skimmer tonight along with the pump. The skimmer has a slight crack by the air valve. I used some marine epoxy to fix it. Hope it works. The pump that came with it is a Dolphin DP-800. The fittings (nipples) are a weird size. It states 3/4" but none of my 3/4" tubing fits it. The nipple is actually bigger than 3/4" so I am stuck until tomorrow to find some flex that will fit. I am doing a custom drain for the skimmer back into the sump. I took your advice Matt and drilled it myself. 3 holes to be exact. (2) on the sump side and (1) under the bio balls for the drain from the skimmer. The (2) on the front will be used for the Dolphin pump and the Mag 9 pump. I am using 1" PVC to run the drain line from skimmer to sump with a "T" valve after the gate valve to make sure that air any excess air does not disrupt the skimming process. Hopefully it will all come together tomorrow.

Thanks to all who have helped.

    Todd

Skimmer is up and running finally. It started skimming right away. Then quit for about 2 hours, started skimming again for an hour and has not done anything for the last 2 hours. Wonder if the tank does not have that much in it yet to skim off??? Has been up and running for 4 weeks now.

Thanks again Matt for the vote of confidence.

I read skimmers take a few weeks to break in.

I have yet to even fill up my tank though, still getting parts slowly and design changes ...

I forgot to mention that this skimmer was a used one. It was a deal I could not pass up. $100 for the skimmer which was used for 6 months and a brand new pump. The dolphin dp-800. That was a steal. Maybe it takes time to break in again after it has been sitting for the last 4-5 months. Who knows...it is active again this morning.

    Thanks,

    T
