Hi...I am thinking of buying this skimmer but it looks like the older model because the gate valve is low.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good skimmer and how does it work with the valve all the way down there?

Can it go in sump with the valve being that low?

Any suggestions and input are appreciated!

Yes its a good skimmer may have to set it up on a stand I myself just run about 5 to 6" of water line in my sumps and that would allow you the air gap for the outlet..

So I have to have a chamber in my sump that is only 5''-6'' deep for this specific skimmer setup?

Or like you said...somehow chock it up if my water is like 9'' high?

    I am understanding you correctly?

    Thanks!

180 or 240....gonna rock in my 135 tank.
I just want to make sure its good and that valve in that location is ok...I cant find any information on ones with the valves down that low.

how old is that model you think?

Not sure on the age, but its definitely not the EV180 model. The EV240 model has the chamber as long as the one in the pic. Try MarineDepot for a copy of the manual or just Google; AquaC EV240 manual. That skimmer alone sells for $400 Take a look.....[IMG]

That price doesn't include the pump.

yea....looks close...but the valve in my pic seems to be on the side on lower down right? Weird! Did they make them like that?

I can also snag an Aqua C 120 for $100...almost new...do you think thats big enough for my 135 tank or should I go with the one in the picture I sent?

    Thanks!
