I just bought the skimmer offline and I can't get it to work. It is putting micro bubbles all in my tank. I think the pump is pumping too strong! Are there any good videos on how to set it up? The pump is a mag 5

I am not totally sure with your system set up. BUT if i were to guess I would say that if your running a sump that you dont have adequate bubble trapping capabilities. I would suggest posting pictures to get better help. If you are running a sump take pictures of your sump so that we can better supply you with a solution if your not running a sump show us your set up so we can maybe critique your setup as well.

Sorry if that sounded harsh its not meant that way.

I have the same skimmer and the micro bubbles will go away after about 2 weeks after it gets a natural slime coat. You did make sure to rinse it out with freshwater before you put it in the tank like the instructions say, correct? The instructions even say that micro bubbles are to be expected for a little while after having this skimmer(or any skimmer brand new set up) for that matter.

P.S. If you find the skimmer a little noisy, it quiets down a lot after time and there is also a DIY mod for this skimmer to make it even quieter.

I have taken it down, the pump was too strong. The part that is supposed to catch the skim was filling with water and overflowing. I'm going to wait until Friday and I will get the pump that is made for the skimmer. Having that huge mag 5 in my tank was ugly and took up a whole side of my tank

Yes, a mag5 is definitely too strong for a Remora. I have one and run a maxijet 1200. The remora uses water injection to create the bubbles for the skimmer and having a oversized pump will cause it to produce too many bubbles- leading to microbubbles in the tank.

If you need a maxijet 1200 I have some available.

You could also use a mag 3

Even the Remora Pro, which is larger than the regular Remora, uses a Mag3 so a Mag5 is way too strong.

My remora took a month to start making LESS microbubbles.
I ended up getting the pre skimmer box for mine and it's completely stopped the microbubbles. It hides the pump, "skimms the surface" and has a large area to put bags of media.

My Mag 5 works great with the Remora Pro S.

I believe I saw a Remora Pro S in my LFS a few months back and it is significantly larger than the regular Remora.
