    Hi everyone.

So I'm a newb, with my first tank having run for a little over 11 weeks now.

Currently in the tank I have - 4 hermits, 2 turban snails, 2 clowns, 1 damsel, 1 pajama cardinal, and one other random fish.... can't remember what he is.

(I didn't plan on putting anything more than my 2 clowns in the tank, but my mom came home with a brown paper bag, yelled "surprise", and the rest is history.)

Needless to say, my tank has a somewhat high bioload. (it's only 25 gallons). I plan on removing at least the pajami cardinal (he's so awesome looking, but he's big, and makes the tank look small.)

I need a hang-on skimmer. I'd like to build a sump at some point, but I don't see it happening for at least 6 months. I've been doing weekly 6 gallon water changes, but still feel that's not enough.

I've been reading reviews on different hang-on units. By far the best reviews I read are on the AquaC remora:

any words of advice before I hit that checkout button? Any bad/good experiences or words of advice for a beginner?

    thanks

It is like a skimmer with least requirement for setting up and breaking in, and not likely to get into troubles of microbubbles... However its price of 170 is kind of high compared to bak pak 2 or other skimmers... bak pak 2 is only 120 at good doctors...

I have just read that they are very good, it does take about 2 weeks to break it in, so it will send a lot of bubbles out until it completes break in.

I've read into a couple quick fix mods to stop the bubbles.

Or I could just run it on a bucket of salt water for a few days to get it going, right?

Yes or maybe a day in a vinegar solution and then a couple of days in saltwater. It should work well once the manufacturing oils come off.

You run it with the cup all the way down to collect the most wet skim possible. Just clean the inside cup with a papertowel every few days. They have great customer service.
