Aqua C Urchin upgrade.. need advice [Video inside]

I have the Urchin Pro with Mag Drive 3 ...i just dont think that pump can cut it for my 120G reef tank

The urchin pro does a pretty good job, but when i put the cup in a high position it pulls very little dark skimmate.

I want to upgrade to this pump. Will be going from 350 to 700

Danner Model 7 Supreme 700 GPH Pump w/ Fractionating Impeller

What do you guys think? Will this be too powerful?

I was going to get a Mag Drive 5 which is 500GPH but the Mag Drive 7 is only $10 more.

That will be another $100. Im thinking should i just sell the Urchin Pro and the Remora i have and get something else?

I believe a fractional impeller is the thing on the far right side of that pic
i think they are what spin around really fast and break up the bubbles in your skimmer to super fine micro bubbles

i dont know about the upgrade im not good with that kind of stuff

If you go to the fractionating impeller you will need to remove the spray nozzle from your skimmer. A fractionating pump is designed to have the air intake in front of the pump and the impeller makes really small bubbles. Your skimmer uses a pressure pump to spray water into the skimmer to create the bubbles.

I would suggest getting a larger more powerful hang on the back skimmer rather than just the new pump. Or going with a sump skimmer. You could get an Octopus BH-800S for around $225, which will do a lot more than that Remora.

This is not for the remora, its for the Aqua C Urchin pro which sits in the sump

Sorry, the urchin is the same as the remora only it is insump not hang on. So rather than suggesting the BH-800S, I would suggest moving to a NW-150 or NW-200 very affordable skimmers.
