So has anyone used this on their saltwater tank and if so how would you rate it?

IMO for nano tanks they are a very good form of filtration

I had a Aquaclear on my 5 gallon and just as Ocean Paradise describes above, I used mine for housing carbon, GFO and a small QTY of Purigen

no ive also got a protein skimmer which has a chamber to place carbon and 46lbs of live rock. its a 40 gal FOWLR tank. i didnt think i needed a mechanical filter until all my detritus started piling up everywhere. its making my nitrates rise and when i do water changes theres so much that some still remains in the tank.

    IMHO

the aquaclear will accumulate some of the flotsum and jetsun that floats around in your tank but its not a Dyson and wont clean up any thats already settled in places - for that you need to hoover it out with the syphon when your doing water changes

You also need to periodically clean out the Aquaclear, as the sediment that accumulates in there will also contribute to nitrate issues IME
