i got a new chiller today (hooray!). it's an Aqua Euro USA 1/10 HP. (you can see it here : AquaEuroUSA Max Chill Aquarium Chiller)
anyway, after a really easy set up (i used Rio 800 as a pump) everything seemed to be working fine. i set it to 77F but for some reason, the LCD display shows that temperature in my tank is 80F. all my other thermometers (i have a digital one, a regular floating one and strips) shows the temperature is around 75. 75.1 according to the digital. i'm not really understand what is going on. i emailed the company but until they answer i thought maybe someone here knows what's going on.

Perhaps the digital readout is the temperature at which the deep cooling cycle kicks in as opposed to the current temperature? Just a thought? Does it have dual/multiple display modes?

or maybe i got it right when i think about it. i set it now to kick in when the temperature in tank reaches 80F. but yet it shows that my temperature is 81F (!!) and my other thermometers show something else. maybe in need to calibrate it? there's an option to do so

It sounds like calibration might be a good idea. You really shouldn't have to do that though really, Hm-mm. Can you "set" the readout to read 78F and hold?

By the way, that is a small chiller, how big is the tank?

i set it to 76F. it shows 75F now and my digital shows 76. so it's +-1 degree. so i guess it's alright?

it's rated for up to 80 gallons. my tank is 55 gal + ~15 gal sump. taking out all the rocks and sand - this size is good.

I have the same brand but a 1/4 HP. I have noticed it reads one degree off from my digital thermometer. You set the temp and when the tank get 2* above the set temp it kicks on. This keeps if from turning on with just one degree of change (too often). I know the direction sheet was not that helpful for me.

I set the temp on the cooler one degree lower than my target temp and it is working well.

i have the same brand and also a 1/4 hp. it is off by 1deg for mine too. mine is setup at 78 and the tank says78 but the digital readout says 79. guess they are all made this way.
anyway anybody knows where to get replacement barbs for the water input and output? mines are all brittle now and i have over tightened one of them and now are leaking. hope anybody knows. ;D

Sounds like it is common for the chiller to be off a bit.
You might try the giant fish and see if they can get the parts you need.
