I have AI lights and EM Vortech Pumps so I am a fan of both companies. My guess is in the next year or so one product line is going to get sunsetted...and the other will be dominant. It is hard to see which company bought the other - it reads to me like AI bought EM - but that is a total guess....

I think its a weird merger if EM was the initiator. I dislike change, but if this helps put out products faster i like it.

I wonder if they will keep one name as their premiere fixtures and the other will be a lower cost alternative. A Toyota/Lexus sort of deal.

Odd to merge arguably the two highest cache names in the industry for the purpose of turning one of them into a low cost entry level brand. I expect the market value of both brands is fairly high.

The Facebook photo Ecotech had posted was of their logo a plus (+) sign, and AI after.
Based on the order of operations one would guess em bough them(AI), but addition is interchangeable and given the first addition problem. it's hard to repute. But the again who knows.

I'm interested to see what's gonna happen as well. HydRadion anyone?

Its a smart move on both there parts, I hope to see Ecotech go away from lighting and focus on new technology like they are great at. AI is a solid light company so it would be great to make AI their lighting sector and ecotech working on other products like a full on controller, heaters, skimmers etc.

Put a fancy label on a pile of BS and call it organic fertilizer.

Merging to me means someone is making some money and then send the marketing team to spin it to the positive.
Then you will have each R&D team that thinks they know how to do it better and they will bicker back and forth until upper management comes in and makes a decision nobody likes.

whoops, my work attitude is coming out. I'm right in the middle of a merger with 3 or 4 companies and trying to get CAD systems, PDM/ERP systems to merge. Of course everyone does it the best way and doesn't want to bend one bit.

I didn't mean to get off topic here. I hope something good does comes from this!

The only thing that is constant is change.

LOL zesty, I was thinking about the same. Honestly I think the only change is that ecotech is going to spend less on advertising since its not fighting for the same market as AI.

Both companies produce products far outside of my spending desires. I can't justify paying the money they value their products at. I doubt this merger makes any impact on gaining my (and people like me) business.
