I have a aqua medic turboflotor multi sl skimmer. It has overflowed the collection cup 2 times. I have taken the pump off and ran vinager through it all last night got up this morning and put my skimmer back together and its still producing more wet foam. It has been going for about 3 hours now and there is about one inch of clear water in the collection cup. I'm out of ideas on what to try next. Any ideas?

Is the skimmer new, or has it been working as normal for a while?

have you added anything new to your tank, liquid supplements or additives recently
some additives can cause a skimmer to foam up so intensely that you end up with just salt water in the cup

on the reverse side , reef putty can actaully cause my skimmer to stop foaming for a day or so if I used a golf ball sized lump or larger for securing multiple frags
I have experienced similar issues with different skimmers

the last time the cup full of salt water occured with my Deltec skimmer I continually poured it away for about 2 days and then it stopped (replaced the missing water with new SW)

I had tried on previous occasions just dumping whatever was collected back in the tank
but on that occasion the problem lasted longer

so IMO whatever in the water is causing the excess foaming, is being collected in the cup thus throwing it away rather than pouring back in the tank, was a much more effective way to end the problem sooner IME
