Hi i have a tank which i accuried fully set up so it had all lights pumps etc with it, so im not 100% sure on makes and models, but this skimmer says aqua medics on the top lid, it is a grey rectangular box that hangs on the back of the tank and has a small clear collection cup on top of it with a cone shaped piece inside the collection cup, now since i have had it the cone shape part is always full of bubbles and then all the muck starts filling up in the cup

but at the weekend i decided it was looking filthy so i took it all appart cleaned it all out put it back on and since then there is no bubbling in it what so ever, the water is still flowing round it and if i blow lightly into the air inlet pipe then it will bubble in the cone but the soon as i stop blowing the bubbles stop????????????????? any ideas what i have done or what i can try to put it right, or does it take a day or two to start building bubbles back up again??????????

Well, it sounds like it is no longer sucking in air. Is the air intake clogged or kinked at all? Properly connected to the pump? I would make sure all of the connections are correct and maybe take the impeller out of the pump to make sure it is good.

problem solved i just pushed the pump a little deeper into the tank and all of a sudden it started bubbling so not sure what it was but its fixed now thank god, but that had not been working for 4 days so i done all water checks and everything is perfect apart from nitrate is high between 50 - 100 , so iwill do a small water change to start brimging that down, but also there is lots of tiny specs on the glass all over like tiny short white hairs that are all moving in the flow of the water so they look like little tiny white worms, shall i just wipe this off, what has caused it though?

To bring down your nitrates, you will need to do several small WC over the week. One every other day or so. What the white things are is hard to say without pictures. It could just be gunk from the skimmer getting dislodged from not working the last few days.
