Hi, my name is Rupert Benjamin. I just bought the AquaC EV-180 protein skimmer, and i have a few questions. My gate valve flows into the same section as the skimmer, so it repeatedly skims the same water, so how can I plumb the gate valve so it flows into the refugium section taking into cons the splashing noise and the microbubbles returning into the return pump section. Also, my sump has 12" baffles so I must raise the skimmer 4" so that the gate valve is 1" above the water level. What is better, to lower the baffle or to raise the skimmer out of the water?

How does your water enter? You just have to move the pump or section it off somehow to get better intake of "new" water. Keep more water anytimr you can. If you havbe enough room in your sump for 12 inches of water, then make a stand.

I used a large flat 4" pvc cap to make a stand for my aqua c to raise it out of the water like 2" so I could keep more water volume in my sump. as for the gate valve the skimmer doesnt seem to like any restriction on the outlet so you want it to be right at water level and not too low but not too high to cut down on splashing noise. As far as the return water mixing in the same chamber the water is moving through the sump pretty quickly I would guess so that shouldnt be an issue that is how mine is set up and it has been working great for a long time now .
