I have not owned a Octo, but there are a bazzilion owners out there. Good price and performance. Easily modded. Some consider the brand of the skimmer to be the type of skimmer. Octo does not own the needle wheel type skimmer. They are just a maker. All the other brands try to make a good product with good materials and features for a price point.

What you want is a good company. The needle wheel skimmer is what you want and you will get those advantages of needle wheels with any reasonable company. Not a lot of difference between companies.

The big difference in skimmers does not come from the plastic, but from the pump they strap to it. The pump is the heart and some folks put very high quality high performing pumps on their skimmers.

Thanks again for the information. I had really only done my research on the AquaC and MB, but will do some more research on the ones you mentioned. I looked at the Royal Exclusiv Alpha 170 and it looks sexy. Still pricy but getting closer. Thanks!!!!

I literally have both. The bullet 1 is sitting in my closet -- but that's only because it takes a huge water flow to work properly and it is noisy. The bullet is an AWESOME skimmer. I used to have a 58 gallon built into the wall with a 30 gallon sump. The bullet 1 was kick arse for that.

The AquaC is the one that I happily have running cause now my tank is 38 gallons with a 10 gallon sump inside a tight cabinet. So I want quiet and not a lot of water splashing around in the sump.

I absolutely love the AquaC. It's super quiet. I personally like to run a tea color skimmate. It pulls lots of waste out of the reef tank without splashing water all over the place. The large collection cup easily comes off with a twist and lift. Everything is super easy to clean and maintain (easier than the bullet). It's very well engineered and works great!

I think that they're both two of the better products that I've bought for anything during the last few years. Not a wrong answer for either. It just depends on how you feel about their individual strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks guys. I am getting overloaded with skimmers right now, but that is a good thing. Just want to make the right choice. Thanks again!!!
