At first, I cleaned the body like every other month, now it's more of a every 6 month job, the initial break in seems to really cut down the microbubbles. I clean the collection cup bi-daily.

I ran mine in sump with a mag drive 5. I cleaned the cup out once every 2 days. And I agree the the micro bubbles will slowley go away. The return on my remora where the water flows back into the tank is covered in algae. Odd that i have algae there but no where else. THat seems to catch the micro bubbles that are caused by the skimmer which helps as well. Maybe yours is to clean :) Hence not fully broken in yet

Installing this thing was a pain also i gotta say. the water level has to be pretty accurate and the tightening mechanism they use SUCKS! but i do like how it hides the pump and intake of the skimmer even though it takes up a lot more room (Somehow that makes sense)

What I did to solve the problem of the pump running dry if the water level lowers is I drilled a big enough whole about half way down the pre-skimmer that was big enough for water to enter for the pump to run with. If my water levels ever lower to much for the pre skimmer to stop functioning. instead of the pump running dry the water just enters the pre skimmer through the hole on the side.

my prefilter box didnt get rid of the film on the top of the water, my water lvl is halfway in between the comb thats cut out. Is the water lvl supposed to be lower than that? If so where is the water lvl supposed to be to work best?
