Hence the 500gph Mag5 being the ideal pump

The jury is still out on the Hyperflow 14 on my remora pro. I did a little fragging and something in the reef expoxy drives the skimmer nutz. I am going to drop down to the Hyperflow 10 and see what happens but under normal conditions the 860 GPH pump has worked well. I just have to set the collection cup near the top. If I didn't already have like 40 times flow in the tank I would be tempted to leave the big pump on for the extra flow.

I have corresponded with AquaC regarding an upgrade for the Remora Pro and they recommend the Mag 5 as the best pump for a stock Remora Pro model. For even better performance they recommended the Mag 7 in conjunction with their Extended collection cup. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=AC3937 The upgrade is going to cost me around $95 but that's a lot cheaper than getting a new skimmer. My Remora Pro was running fine in my 30 gal reef but since upgrading to a 65 gal and stocking my tank with 5 voracious eaters (Black Trigger, Yellow Tang, Cinnamon Clown, Fox Lo and Domino Damsel) the skimmer is just not able to keep up with needed organic export.

Has anyone used a Rio 1100 or 1400 with the normal Remora?

I had the remora and remora pro, used a maxi-jet 1200 for the remora and a mag 5 for the pro model, my skimmate was just as the org. poster posted. I never had to mess with a bigger pump, was like that pic showed every 2-3 days.
