Well. It's official. I'm impressed! These were taken a few minutes ago after scrubbing down my tank walls! It was a whole lot of green. Put new filters in the Emperor too.

I remember when my Remora used to skim like that...i'm hoping that it's a sign of a clean, balanced tank that I get a lot less out of it nowadays...

Looks great. Mine went down over time as well but my conditions were always great. I eventually hooked it to a mag5 and got great production but still not as dirty foam.

yeah mines getting there.. does you guys' remora make noise like mine? i was hoping the noise would subside over a few weeks.. its not motor noise, but the bubbling noise escaping from the cup area.. is there a way to muffle it? or does it really go away after a time?

I don't remember mine being that noisey. I believe some people have placed some foam in areas to cut down on the noise but I'm not sure where they did that. You may be able to find it in an older forum off of this site.
I kept mine in a fuge under the tank so I rarly noticed.

I really can't hear any bubbling noises, I have a fan and an air cleaner in the same room, so they drown out any p.s. noises I might have. Is your water level even with the outflow of the skimmer? It seems to help drown out noises when you keep it at that level.:)

I LOVE this skimmer! LOTS of nasty green gunk going into the overflow! My tank hasn't been this clear in a long time!!!

well, my water levels are to the lip of the tank.. ill take a picture of it and post, and ill record the sound.. and post that as well, maybe ill just video the whole thing and put it on youtube.. the sound is not coming out of the outtake, its coming out of the skimmer cup area.. its just the sound of the water bubbling.. ill get back with the video in a bit, just dont know if its normal or not..

I have hand my AquaC Remora Pro for over 3 years and the sound is still there. The rubber ring that surrounds the cup is sopposed to dampen the sound, but you won't get rid of the sound completed.
If you do find a way to minimize the sound somemore, please post here as I would be interested as well.

okay so i went home and took some video during lunch (uh, geek!!) so here are my two questions

#1 the sound issue (which i think Markgsiy mightve answered). and the sound isnt the water coming from the outtake, its coming from the chamber (cuz it does kinda sound like a "waterfall" effect, but its not..

#2 it doesnt seem to be skimming ANYTHING since i recently added my cannister filter. with the new filter i noticed a REMARKABLE improvement in my corals and water clarity. is it possible there nothing to skim? as always thanks so much for your help..

    heres the links..

Very good video! It seems to me that, yes, there is just nothing to skim. Your cannister filter may be working better than you had hoped. I did notice mine runs at a higher water leverl under the cup, while I have no cannister filter. anyone???......

I watched it a few more times and my water level is the same level with the bottom lip of the outflow. Did you increase your water when you added the cannister? How much water is in the canister at one time? It may be that adding the cannister dropped your water level enough to below where the skimmer needs??
