    Hey guys, Im just wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with this skimmer? Is it any good, if not, what were your problems with it?

    I'm asking because i just recently bought one off ebay for around $75 dollars. Ive read some reviews and it looked like a steal at that price but unfortunately it didn't come with the pump, which is fine since Foster&Smith has been having that summer sale so i bought a Rio 1400 for $23 that usually goes with this skimmer.

    Any input on this skimmer would be greatly appreciated! Good or bad! I just want to know what im going to expect out of this skimmer. It will be going in my 45G build with a 20g sump. thanks!

    I have heard good things about them. Nice steal of a price you got.

    Hello, I had just done a review here a few days back, here it is;

    Review;
    I just installed the Urchin yesterday. The ease of installing and operating is impressive. Drop it in the sump, plug it in, you're done. Well, kind of. I had to cut the tubing that connects the pump to the skimmer due to the fact I upgraded to the Maxi-Jet 1200. I got this one with a drain fitting also. I have the adjustable collection chamber about 1" up for now.
    The two main things I like about the design are; 1. The spray injection nozzle vs the needle wheel and noisy air sucking (even with the silencer) and 2. The gentle cascade of water coming out of the side of the unit which cases no splashing and again no noise and the absence of a bubble catcher or filter sock.
    I really can't hear the operation of this unit, perhaps a slight hum from the power head but nothing really after you close the aquarium stand door. I like this skimmer a lot. It is already skimming and I am looking forward to tweaking the height of the collection chamber to achieve a variety of skimming efficiencies.
    I got mine from Marine Depot for $180.00 total which included no shipping and the drain fitting plus the upgraded pump.

    Since this review I have had no issues with the skimmer. Still only producing moderate skim-mate but most skimmers take some time to "break-in". I am happy with it.
