So I'm going to make a refugium out of an aquaclear 110. The only problem is setting the light on top lets alot of light into the tank. I was thinking of mounting the light on the side. Any ideas on how to mount it? Will it effect the photosythesis of the algae in the chamber if the light is from the side?

    Thanx

Buy a small piece of polycarbonate from Lowe's or HD so you can mount it on top.

it comes with a clear lid so putting it on top is no problem. I want to mount it on the side because mounting it on top lets too much light in the tank.

It would probably be OK on the side. Light is light as far as algae cares. It might grow heavier toward the light bulb.
