I am going to replace my Current Nova Extreme that I have for my 46 gallon bowfront to either a Aquactinics TX5 or a AquaticLife T5 HO. I am dedicating this tank to seahorses and corals (polyps, clams, etc.) . Anyone have any opinions on which of these lights is better? :D

I dont know which light is better but I wouldnt recommend those lights for a seahorse tank. Seahorses dont do well with strong lighting.

Interesting, I was reading the care sheet for seahorses on seahorses.com where I want to order from and I read that they don't have lighting requirements, however; they tend to enjoy lower light more and if I am using a bright light, make sure there are some shaded areas of the tank in case they want a break from the bright light. The bright light will by no means harm them though and being they are captive bred seahorses, they are a little more adjusted to this.

If you decide to get seahorses good luck. They are hard to keep. Another issue you may encounter is flow. I have never kept a clam so I dont know how much flow they require but if you are getting good lights I am assuming you will be getting corals that require a lot of flow as well and Seahorses generally require tanks with less flow than most people normally have in their tanks.

between my skimmer and filter I have 555GPH and as for corals I mainly want polyps, mushrooms and other easy to keep corals. No anemones or anything like that.

If you really want seahorses my advice whether you take it or not would be to save yourself some money and get less lighting cuz if mushrooms and polyps dont need a lot of lighting, and IMO seahorses will do better in lower lighting. It just seems like if you leave out the clam you dont have to spend that kind of money on lighting. Just my opinion tho, only you know what you really want

Seahorses and corals in the same tank really don't make a good match.

And I have never heard of the aquaticlife t5 fixture. The aquactinic is a great unit though.
