How many Aquaillumination SOL Super Blue LED fixtures would be sufficient to cover a 75G tank? ;D

    2. You could do one in the center and run all 70s (optics), but you will have some pretty low light area on the edges. Great area for chalices though if you are into that.

I think two would be the minimum, but if you're wanting to get into higher light corals, you would be better off with four. It's always better to have too much light with the ability to dim it down than not enough and no way to add more.

4?!?! No way. I have 5 on the 6' tank and it's completely lit from end to end.

I have 1 on my 40b and I'm growing sps, lps with absolutely no problem. If it were my main tank, I would get two, but never more even if I was going full sps. I have been playing with mine for a year now and with the right mounting height, you don't need nearly as many as most people think.

Most people get 4, stack them together, put it right on the water line with 70 degree optics, and run them at 30%... Pull them off the water line run all 40 degrees and get double or triple the spread and run them at higher %. You end up with less spotting, and high par all over the tank.

Edit: i know you have done a TON of research on leds in general, but my experiences have been very different.

Agree. I've seen the AI SOLs, and think 4 would be overkill on a 75. People dont realize you can narrow the optic spread and raise the fixtures, and get a more even PAR distribution.

IMO, 2 with 40 degree optics about 18" off the surface would provide good light spread and PAR... You can always add another if you dont feel it's sufficient.

2, with standard optics at first, if you dont like it you can try what ive done with mine. Grim reccommended the idea to me.

for that tank you would do optics like this:

    70 40 70 40 40 70 40 70

I have 3 on my 60 and I do like the extra light over the two I was previously using, but the two did alright.

I have 2 on my 120G (48" tank) and it works and looks great. Standard optics, about 15 inchs above the tank.
