Considering the Aquamedic Oceanlight 2x250 MH and 2 x54 T5's. My question is how high above the tank should I hang it and what temp increase should I expect. Currently in our den(club basement) the temp is around 80 without running the ac and 78 when we do. We are currently running 8x54 T5's...The tank is a 72bowed with 22 inches deep with a 4 " sandbed...

8 inches or so above the air/surface interface is great to avoid the collection of salt creep from forming. To control the heat issue from the lights, just place a room fan to blow across the top of the tank to remove the heat. This process is called evaporational cooling!
