So nothing's changed and the filter is still putting ammonia in the water but the tank water is 0 in ammonia.

I tested again and there's 0 ammonia in the tank but the filter is putting out .25-.50. Should I turn it off?

    I have a 90 gallon with a 20-30 gallon sump and I bought a medium.

    Tank conditions
    Nitrates 10-20
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrites 0
    Filter water
    Nitrates 10-20
    Nitrites 0
    Ammonia .25

That ammonia scares me but I have the filter at such a slow drip rate it should be okay. I have it 1-2 drops per second which is what the owner told me to set it to. I'm going to continue running it and I'm going to focus on the tank water and ignore the effluent water unless it is impossible to ignore. Can anyone can tell if these readings are normal?

at 90 gallons you should be running at 3-4 drops per second. should fill the supplied measuring cup to 10 ml in 25 seconds. once your filter cycles you will be fine. make sure you inject vodka every 3 -4 days starting 3-4 days after you received it. my nitrates went from 40 ppm to zero in 8 weeks.

    Ammonia 0

    Nitrate 20

The filter has stopped producing ammonia but I couldn't check anything else because I didn't have enough time so all I checked was the tank water and the ammonia on the filter.

Well there's 300 dollars to API tests. I purchased a seachem nitrate test my nitrates are 0 to .3 API readings 10-20. This filter will not be a waste of money however. It allows me to do more with my tank. With weekly water changes to cancel out nitrates the nitrates rise to some level, right? So with this filter it keeps it at a low low level making it more ocean like and on top of that the water changes will replenish minerals and water quality and also my dream fish is a porcupine puffer which I can't own due to a clownfish and a royal gramma that could be eaten also that fish makes a mess. Ill keep updating to see if the filter stays at 0. API WILL NEVER BE TRUSTED AGAIN.

I doubt anybody is still checking on this thread but for people researching this filter here's the results. Smells terrible, looks like snot is dripping from the lines, nitrates 5 ppm.
    nitrate 5
    Nitrite 0
    Ammonia 0
    Ph 8

From high 20-40 nitrates to 5 is pretty satisfying. And I recommend this filter so far however made the mistake of not adjusting the flow and got clogged right up. Worth every penny and ill post once I'm down to 0.
