i have been using this filter for 3 months and it has lowered and kept my nitrates at zero. their website shows that the output line may have to be cleaned out once a year, i have to clean mine out once a week ! does any one else have this problem ?

Sounds like you have it running before any filters. Do you use a filter sock or floss before the pump of the filter?

hello, i do have the pump after my mechanical filter. the line gets clogged with the mucus the bacteria makes. on their website he says it may clog once a year or so. mine is once a week !

I have not had to clean mine once yet. Its been about 9 months since I got it. Are you opening the line up all the way to full blast for 15 seconds every week and then resetting the drip? That should help keep the line clear. The thing is working great for me. Nitrates always stay at zero.

every two days i do open it for 15 seconds. the line does hang down in a u shape before it goes up to the top of my sump. my sump is 18" high. i wonder if most of the mucus is just collecting in the bottom of the 'u' shape of the hose.
