Here are the heaters we use in all of our SW and FW tanks. They are accurate and safe. Glass will break in your aquarium and/or sump..

Odds are all heaters will fry a tank eventually. ebo, finnex, won, visi, aqua-medic, etc...

You want a titanium heating element and separate controller like a ranco. do not trust the won/finnex and other hobbyist controllers, they are junk and will cook your tank.


The best stand alone heater i've used is ebo-jager, even better when paired with a ranco.

 

+1 We used WON heaters for years but our last 2 fritzed on us. The replacements that we got (they were still under warranty) also fritzed so we won't use them again.

 

I agree, whatever you decide to go with, a pair is better then one.

Also good to have a small battery operated extreme temperature warning device...You can set for whatever high/low temps you want it to start beeping at.

I too recommend the visi stealth. It's practically indestructable and does a terrific job at heating.
