    Hi All

    I currently use x4 T5 - 2x 10k and 2 x actinic 420nm.

Altho i get good growth and the reef looks good, i can't help but feel the temp is a little over blue. I'm sure i could do something to improve the look of my tank.
does anyone have any suggestions for a new mix of colours? I've seen bulbs at 14k and i've heard of purple ones (altho i can not find these anywhere!).

    cheers in advance!

PS im in the UK so brands like UVL are out of the window.

You have a pic of the current tank lighting? Can you get ATI bulbs?

Yes! I was considering 1 blue tube 1 purple and then 2 whites at 6700k?
Im hoping that would give a mroe natural appearence to the tank, whilst at the same time letting the colours pop!

    Thoughts?

Yes, I'd put in one 6,700K in place of one of the 10,000K for a less blue look.

Khal, alot of the times the brand makes a big difference in bulb coloration. I have purchased 1000k bulbs before and some look closer to 14000k while the ones I have now stink and are more representive of 6700K.
Maybe remove the actinincs and get 13000-14000k bulbs instead. I would shy away form 6700K's as they have alot of red spectrum lighting , and we know what that means...algae growth!!!

Good point tom! 6700k does mean algae growth. So i might change the blues for 14k - i might do it one at a time tho.

My lfs only sells Aqua medic, arcadia or juwel bulbs so not much choice really when it comes to brand.

You will just have to experiment with the different brands and colors, and as you said, one at a time. The pet shops shouldn't have a problem with you trying a bulb and if you are not happy with it returning it!

Good Luck and let us know how you made out!
