I've never tried that. I know the mighty putty works ok, and you can always get reef construct or aquastick

I use the Aquastick to attach corals and mount rock, never tried any of the other stuff. You want to watch out for anything with metals in it....tank will not like that.

If its water weld from walmart i use it all the time.. works great to stick corals that are on Pluggs to place in your tank ... If you thinking of use the water weld to glue the frag to a rock/plugg.. the water weld will get hot and kill your coral.. So be carefull usein it so the Water weld doesnt come in contact to the coral it self...

Another idea is.. If you are tryin to place a coral to a rock/plugg... Glue it with Gel Super glue.. then place your fragg now on a rock/plugg where you want in your tank by useing the water weld...

    Hope this help's

    BEst of Luck...

I bet you'd be fine with Water Weld (MSDS).

For another example, I've used the Oatey stuff (MSDS) from Home Depot without ill effect. Just pay attention to what the epoxy is "loaded" with, if anything. From what I've noted, the aquarium brands (e.g. Aquastik (MSDS) are "unloaded".

Most often, I've seen "Steel Filled". It's literally just got tiny steel shavings throughout the putty for strength. The steel at the epoxy's surface quickly rusts and initiates the blending in of the putty to the rock. Unless you're using large quantities of this putty (can't imagine why one would) I don't think the steel should be a toxicity concern.....and IMO looks better than the reef-oriented (or "unloaded") stuff.

    As always, YMMV.

    Good luck!
