Ok you can see my aquascape in my avatar. I like it alot.

However, in the middle of the two "islands", towards the back of the tank on the sand is where the cyano keeps starting back up. No matter how i position eveyrhtin i cant seem to get flow back there and not sacrifice other areas becasue the two piles are too tall in the tank...

Im thinking i need to lower the height by connecting them

    cyano is frustrating

Just add another small power head to keep things moving back there. Also, it's kind of hard to see the details of you aquascape, a bigger picture would be better.

    Thanks unclejed.

The good news is a have a huge skimmer in the mail (octo extreme 200) rated for 3x my current system volume. I have a pretty good bioload and my skimmer now is junk. so that is probably my main problem based on that article. Luckily...that part of it is solved.

My understanding of the redox+ is that is just assists the skimmer in getting the DOC's out of the water faster...is that about right?

Have you used the redox + yourself? Anything i should be conscious of?

No, I haven't used Redox+, and yes you are correct. I have a protein skimmer and Phosphate reactor. I recently added a Poly-Filter when I had (we think) a spawn of something that clouded the tank. The Poly-Filter is nice to have in there though. Feed sparingly. This (sparingly) can be interpreted in at least 2 ways, either by feeding a "fair" amount every other or every 3rd day or by "lightly" feeding every day. Rinse all frozen foods or strain the initial water the food is melted in and if using flakes, only feed flakes say once a week to once every 2 weeks. Make sure your lights are "fresh".

I just changed the lights. I have been systematically hitting all the avenues at the same time.

I cant find the redox + stuff anywhere online to buy, i think they went OOB

I also just switched to feeding every 2-3 days
