Use a volt meter and stick the prongs into the contacts where the bulb would go. If you still have four bulbs working your corals will be ok until you can get the light fixed.

ok well thats a relief, im hoping he has another fixture instock so i can just switch it out, but now my main question, if i take the fixture in with me, it leaves my tank with no light, which cant be good?? i wouldnt be gone long but would i still be ok??

You tank without lights for a few hours is not going to do any damage. For days however, that could be a problem.

    They'll be ok.

I've run a bunch of those lights and have not had a problem, but here are some things to try. Open up the ballast compartments on the top and check for any blown fuses in there. If you find nothing, unplug the ballasts one at a time until you find which one is not working. Now switch one in that is working and see if that fires the bulbs. If it does, than it's your ballast. Hopefully this will be the case, so you can just send the ballast to Aquaticlife and keep the other four bulbs running for now. They have awesome service just give them a call at: 1-888-548-3480

Your SPS will be fine for at leats a couple weeks under the four bulbs. If you are worried, you can put all your white bulbs in the four that are still running and you will get nearly the same amount of PAR as before. Let me know if you have any problems getting through to Aquaticlife and I'll give them a call.

    Yep

It's a good fixture. The way this works on T5's is that if one of your bulbs on this ballast goes bad, the other bulb won't light either. This is not just an Aquatic Life thing. It's the way all T5 fixtures work. Take 2 bulbs that are working and replace the 2 non-lighting bulbs. If it lights up, one of your bulbs is bad. If it doesn't light up, your ballast is bad.

+100000 to this. I had a ballast go out on me and it was doing the same thing. I called and they sent a new ballast along with new bulbs just to be nice, including new night bulbs. They really know how to keep customers.
