That's what I was running on mine too. I got a lot of "green" tea. If I was lucky, there'd be a tinge of brown in it but I couldn't trust it working consistantly, plus somedays I would come home from work and the pump was running but no water was coming out because too much air was in the intake pipe.

Nice, I didn't think of the outside. I ended up placing some poly pad in the return chamber. Glad it's working out for you too. Can't beat the price!

I just placed one of these on hold at the LFS for my mantis tank. They told me it was a good skimmer but I wanted to go home and research it a bit. Glad to see the reviews. I have tried the nano fission and the oceanic biocube skimmer in that tank and was not impressed with either ones. Glad to finally see one that people like! Will probalby pick it up next weekend.

If you guys can wait, I have a 20% off coupon for Marine Depot. I'm going to get one for my sea horse tank too. The catch is, the coupon is only good in the month of August. :(

I wish I could get even a little skimmate that looks anything like this. I have had this skimmer for a little over a day and all this thing collects is water. I've tried adjusting the valve to slow the bubbles down, but to no avail. Is there something else I should try?

If you have only had it for a day, you need it give it a couple of days to break in. It can take up to a week for a new skimmer to break in completely.

I am glad I asked then before I became too impatient and returned it. Thanks for the response.
