Has anyone taken apart the aquatic life t5ho fixture? I just purchased one, and was super impressed. However, the blue lights suddenly stopped working. I have removed and replaced both bulbs, reset the fixture, and nothing.

I was doing some work, and put the fixture back on the tank, and suddenly the lights worked... for about 5 minutes, then the blue went off again.

I am guessing I have a lose connection somewhere. I emailed aquatic life... but know I wont get a response until Monday at the earliest.

Is it easy to get inside and be sure everything is tight, or should I not mess with it yet?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you do try to fix it any electrical problems, it may void the warranty. I would just wait as well. It could be the switch and that will probably have to be replaced, it if is the switch.

    Frustrating.

I tend to agree its a loose connections but it can also possibly be a bad bulb too. If one is bad and isnt completing the circuit they will both go out. I had this problem with my lighting setup, and spent several hours testing all the connections. After which I then found out that it was the bulbs by moving them to another location. As soon as they warmed up a bit they turned off. Try moving the bulbs first and see if they stay on or go off in their new position, will save you lots of work if its the bulbs trust me.

And if that doesn't pan out, I would open it up as long as their is no seals on it. And you don't need any specialized training to check for loose connections which is what I agree it must be. Open it up and tug on each wire coming out the the wire nuts to see if they are tight, if one comes loose take the nut off and reinstall it tightly.

And if its not a wire in one of the nuts it may be a wire on the ballast, most of them are push lock. Basically you push the wire in a hole and there is little piece of metal that locks the wire in place. Gently tug on the wires and if one comes loose just push it back into the hole, but make sure you watch where it comes from.

Aquatic life will inform you how to take it apart over the phone. They have walked me through taking apart both of mine a few time even after dropping a corner of mine in the tank. So i would wait :)

Ok. I opened up the top and everything looked tight. I didn't try to "fix" anything... just checked to be sure the wires are all tight.

I am hoping it's a bad bulb (which is actually something I was thinking about this morning). It came on again during it's normal cycle. Was on for about five to ten minutes. Flickered... then went out. Reminded me of when a bulb goes out on a normal fixture.

I might try swapping the white and blue bulbs just to see if that might be the problem.

Well, all my troubleshooting paid off. With my details they're sure I just got a bad ballast. Once I send him my serial number when I get home, they'll ship me a new one :)
