    Aqueon 06131 Circulation Pump, 500 GPH, 2.6-Watt.

I spotted this pump and wonder if anyone have used it? I am looking to replace my 2 over sized monstrous pumps. I think the pumps I am using is warming the water to much in my tank. I am looking to spend about $40 per pump and these were like $27.90

Will I just won a 1250 on ebay for $20.50 + $5 shipping that's half the charge of them elsewhere. I am currently bidding on a 2nd one.

I had 2 and didnt like them very much. Theyre ok for the price, but be gentle with them. One of mine snapped right by the ball where they rotate.

Will these pumps are less noticeable than the ones I had in there. My water does appear to be running cooler and they sure push a lot of water. There relocating sand which surprises considering how deep it is.

As you can from the pic the water is quite turbulent,, maybe a bit to much.

One disadvantage to the Aqueons is they are not controllable like some others in the same price range. It is nice to be able to turn powerheads on and off for random flows.

Yes random flow would be nice, the pumps I replaced had rotating heads which did give random flow. But the investment did pay off, the temp in my tank on average is running almost 4 degrees cooler. When the MH lights went on the temp would go from 77 to almost 84 with the old pumps, with these when that MH light goes on the temp. goes from about 77 to only low 80 now.

With my newest investment that I should get today in the mail I should be able to keep my temp a lot more stable

Is that still a rather large temp swing? I'm reallyh not sure myself, but it sounds like it, it an an smaller delta for your temp though, and that's good!

Good buy, didn't break the bank, and it's dong what you wanted.

Is there a magnet on the outside too? Do they stay put?

I would say pretty moderate swing, still 3 degrees is much better than about 7. I will learn in the next few days how much of a difference the fans will make, hopefully I can keep the swing to a degree and half or so.
