just for some background info: i recently moved my reef from a 50 gallon to an 80. in the 50 i originally had crushed coral and aragonite mixed together as the substrate, but i read that just arag alone is the way to go so i sifted all the CC out (but i still have it).
now the 80 has been set up for about 3 weeks and pretty much everything is all settled in. the problem is my giant tomato clown and his host carpet anemone. he takes care of the amenone well but CONSTANTLY kicks up the loose aragonite sand so that it half-buries the anemone. i have no idea why he does this. at first i thought it was one of the powerheads that was stirring up the sand and pretty much covering all the coral and the anemone in it, but i observed the clownfish doing this myself. it makes the water cloudy for almost a full day and its really annoying getting the sand off of the inverts.
i thought maybe if i added the crushed coral back to the tank on top of the aragonite, the clown would stop kicking up the sand. but i dont want to add it and then have to remove it again if this plan doesnt work. anyone have an idea? but why is the clown even doing this in the first place?

the clown is helping the anemone, let it be, Carpets like to have their feet buried in sand, and your tomato clown is helping, it this is a very good sign because they will probably have a relationship.

On a side note, you said you did a switch from a 55- 80 might want to watch the nem, 3 weeks is kinda new but maybe you can pull it off.

yeah theres no ammonia or nitrites. ive switched tanks many times before. the trick is do it as fast as possible and keep the old water, as long as the nitrates are low.
but as for the anemone, the clown kicks up sand onto the base of the nem, not just the foot.
