So I guess the title says it all. I will be getting heavier into reef livestock and clams etc. Is it enough? I will have a few t5 actinics to supplement also. Thanks for helping.

you will be better served with a pair of 250w but the 175w will certainly support almost anything you want, but you may need to position some corals slightly higher in the tank if they require heavy light.

It will work but some of your corals might not be happy if they are at the bottom of the tank I recomend two 250 watt

Like already has been said,a pair of 250w halides would serve you better, but the t5ho will help a lot with the PAR as well.

What Kelvin bulbs are you running in the MH, and how many and what kind of t5s are you running?

What are the other dimensions of the tank?

not to hijack this thread.. but my near future 55g tank is going to have 2x175mh 10k hamiltons and 2x54 t5 atiblue plus in a 21" depth tank. can I grow sps on the bottom? will have mh light 10" off water.

Are you sure you will be able to fit all that light over a 55g? They are pretty narrow.

If you can, you shouldn't have any issues growing sps in most of the tank.

I grow some sps on the bottom of my 24" tall tank with 2x250 mh and 2x80 of B+ t5s.

its going to be tight. I'll have to bend or cut the width of relfectors on the MH down to like 9" so I can fit two t5 reflectors in there. worst case scenario going to have to ditch the t5 reflectors and use uvl 454 bulbs with internal reflectors built in the bulbs.

with the 10k's it will be a lot more light going in than 20k... but then again, the blue wavelength travels the farthest through water!
simple answer like horkin said is probably most sps, except the high demand ones ;)

I'm upgrading to a 120g and it's 24" deep. I have a current USA sundial now with t5. 2 actinics and 2 10k. I found 2 full pendant systems. For $50. I was thinking of using them along with the t5 light. I would use 14k bulbs in the pendant and keep the t5 arrangement. What do you all think? Oh and I will be heavier into corals in this tank.
