I have tried to displace my Maroon Clown 3 times now. All he does is digs holes in the sand with his tail. I realize animals will do what they do, but he really pisses me off. Only because my water is always full of crap. He gets pretty deep and throws sand up all over my rock and corals. I have put rocks down in front of his little hang out, but to no avail. What can I do?

Will an anemone help? Will he stay out of the sand if I give him a home? Not sure if I want an anemone. I might have to find him a new home.

My false perc clowns dig in the sand too. They tunneled under a coral skeleton and now they have a cave they live in. I like that about them.

That sounds cool. The Maroon is kind of big. I'm also a bit worried about rock slides caused by him undermining my rock work.

a anemone will probably help but will it may piss you off because all it does is rub up against the damn thing all day. talk about ocd :)

but anemones are difficult. my answer is take out all your sand until you only have a inch.(it is better to have only a inch in the long run anyway)

    Yeah, clowns do this.

When I made the change from FOWLR to reef, I removed my Tomato clown with the intention getting credit for him at the LFS. His incessant excavations were making me nervous. I wasn't going to run the risk of all my LR coming tumbling down.

I was not on the road 5 min's, him in his bag, on the passenger seat, staring at me like a hurt child--when suddenly someone jumped the median and totalled my truck. Suffice it to say that there was saltwater everywhere. His bag exploded like a water balloon on the dash. He was flopping around helplessly on the floorboard. Instead of letting him drown to death, I put him out of his misery. It hurt.

I was very lucky to have been wearing my seatbelt. It saved my life. I got away with a welt on my collarbone where the belt restrained me. Can't say the fish was as lucky.

    What a terrible day. :(

That's a good idea. I'll do that in the future.

This impact was so severe, I honestly don't think it would have made a difference in this case.

it could have laid on its side for a little while, unless you used a small bag. and not a gallon one.

edit: also i hope you claimed him on your insurance.
