    Hi, guys,

My tank (46 g bowfront) just cycled, and I am so excited to finally stock! I'm going to be taking my time so here's my plan....

    2 bangaii cardinalfish
    wait a few weeks
    2 clownfish
    wait some more
can I do an angelfish in this small of a tank?
    after a few months
take everything out and put in pipefish, seahorses and mandarin dragonette...\

    What do you think?

my question is why are you spending money on fish that you will eventually get rid of? Unless they are going into a different tank then I think you will be wasting money.

Though to answer your question yes Cardinalfish can be paired with Clownfish. IME they are compatible..I have them in my tank :)

Clowns and cardinals should be fine, one angel can work if small and put in last in that group.

i wouldn't stock a tank just to get rid of them. pipe fish are extremely difficult and are expert only. its not a matter of tank maturity its about have enough pods. mandarins are quite hardy if there well fed. the fish mentioned above will be a nightmare to remove.

    just my 2 cents.

im going to have to disagree, if your heart is in it and you do routine maintenance and give them a good diet a pipefish can be very easy to care for, same with seahorses and mandarins.

That's may be true, but I don't see a reason to fully stock the tank and then take them all out. Why not just start with the pipefish and whatever else? Although with the mandarin I would wait until you can get enough pods.

Or start with like a clown or something until you get enough pods and brine for the more difficult fish.

you can always buy pods, or just buy alot of live rock. if hes set on doiing a pipefish mandarin tank i would say just start off doing that rather than start something entirely different then switching over later.

To solve the arguement going on before, before you get the mandarin you need to have an established aquarium. Yes, you can always buy pods if you like spending a fortune to keep your fish alive. You will go broke in no time. Don't start with that fish. Enough on that.

I would go with your plan if you plan on keeping the fish, otherwise I don't really know what to tell you. You might have a hard time getting them out and getting rid of them at the same time. You should be fine keeping a dwarf angel only, and only one at that.
