yeah that's what I figured.....I know my dad doesn't have the time to build the stand and hood, but maybe my brother and I can figure out something. I know we have the skills and tools to do so. My brother is really good friends with a excellent cabinet maker he may be able to help if we build our own stand and hood. I could still use the router though on the doors to have a edge on the interior of the bracing like in this picture. [IMG]

That would look really nice. There are a TON of stand designs out there to grab, after you build the basic stand, your cabinet friend can help you skin it easily. Really, you and your brother can probably come up with something in just a few hours one day. Getting started is the hardest part.

Yes that will be the biggest thing with this project is getting started. Before I/we do anything we need a tank. My dad wants to get one off of craigslist which is fine(if it is scratch free) they go for really cheap and the stands are sometimes nice. Even if the stand would be trash we could always make a new one or modify and paint it to look new. Do you know of Coral Connections(it's in Kenner, LA)? they are selling a pre drilled (i think it has overflows) Aqueon 210 for $925 what do y'all think?

I'll sell you mine for $650 with the stand and you can modify the stand to look however you want.

Coral Connection is a decent guy I forget the owners name. I have bought some stuff from them. I think he builds some tanks too if I'm thinking of the right guy.

I'll have to see with my dad, but sounds good. The stand would turn to snow no matter what lol I don't think i could get away with any other color in that room :D I think the biggest problem is like when i showed him your setup you offered is the total figure is very intimidating. I guess it's like if you bought a new car all at once it would be scary to loose all that money at one time as when it's spread out over a period of time it's more manageable. probably just the tank and stand would be better anyways, it would make it a bit more fun to customize our own setup...just part of the experience i guess.

Is the sump going to be under the tank? I honestly wouldn't do any more than 2500gph through the sump and that would be the max if it were a very large sump! In reality I would be looking to do around 1000 - 1500 gph.

If your plan is to buy a used tank and you choose that pump I guarantee you will flood the room! It would take one serious overflow to handle that much water. Definitely a custom build. You seriously need to rethink this issue.

I haven't really tackled that part of the flow yet. I was thinking ReeFlo Dart/Snapper Hybrid Pump or
    ReeFlo Super Dart Gold Pump

Yeah, I knew without seeing it and without really knowing about all my equipment it was going to scare him away. But if you are going to peace it all together anyhow, buying my tank and stand will save you about a grand over going new.

I fully agree with Greg. I'm using a mag 24 on my 210 and it powers my 210, a 40b, my ca reactor, my brs reactor and I think it's running all that very well.
