I have a 46 bowfront with a glass top right now and have orderd new lights and was wanting to possibly do open top insted of the glass lids to allow maximum light in.

I have a pair of black clowns, firefish goby, watchman goby, orange spot goby, 6 line wrasse, and a royal gramma in the tank.

Are any of these known jumpers?

royal gramma- Mine died from ich.... so, I'm not sure.

All wrasses have the potential to jump, I have a flasher and a 6 line and so far so good. I had a yellow watachman goby jump out of my 10gal. quarantine, but my current one has attempted anything. And fire fish have the potential to jump.

I also have a 46 bow and a open top and I have a Fairy Wrasse and he never jumps. I believe a fish will only jump if it is bothered by another fish. I once had a different Fairy Wrasse and learned to need keep a Royal Gramma with one. The Fairy did not jump he just had a heart attack in the tank. I had a pair of Oscellaris Clowns but I decided to remove the mean femaleso I could add a Fairy Wrasse. I have no problems now. I have a Solarensis Fairy who never jumps. I have never had a firefish so I am not sure if they are the same in behavior. I don't think its as nice of a fish as a Fairy Wrasse. Clownfish don't jump and either does a Mandarin

    Clowns - No

    Firefish - when startled yes

watchman / orange spot - usually only when you first add them to the tank but once fully acclimated seem ok for the most part

6 line - never had one jump but some people say they have had them do

royal - none of mine ever jumped - they dont get startled too easy

BUT anything is a possibility with any fish. You startle a fish and it freaks out it may just land on the carpet one time!!

I have a firefish with no lid. Hasn't jumped yet.

Without a lid you are going to be losing a lot of water to evaporation, especially in the winter. Consider adding an automatic top off system if you don't already have one.

Fish also jump to "scratch" itchy spots.
